How to use this SEO FAQ
This SEO FAQ collects the questions Palo Alto owners raise most often before they hire anyone. The first groups cover results, reviews and cost, while the later ones cover big competitors, languages and who we are.
For a second opinion, Google’s own page on whether you need an SEO lists fair questions to put to any agency, including us. And if your question is not here, ask us directly and we will answer in plain words.
FAQ
SEO FAQ: timing, reviews and street-level targeting
How long before SEO brings in customers from Palo Alto searches?
Profile corrections, such as a better primary category or accurate hours, can register within weeks. However, new pages usually need a few months to settle. Crowded fields here, like dentistry, real estate and law, take longer still, because rivals carry years of reviews and content.
Our customers check Reddit and reviews before booking. What can SEO do about that?
More than you might expect, though indirectly. For example, Google suggests searches like “palo alto dentist reddit” and “palo alto gyms reddit”, which shows that people want peer opinion. Still, we will never post in forums on your behalf. Instead, we keep your reviews recent and genuine and your replies specific. We also make sure your site answers what those threads ask about, such as prices, wait times and who does the work.
Do you target streets and neighborhoods, or only “Palo Alto”?
Both, where the searches justify it. Suggestions here often name University Avenue, California Avenue, Middlefield, El Camino, Midtown or Town & Country. Similarly, home searches name Old Palo Alto, Professorville, Crescent Park and Barron Park. We build a street or neighborhood page only when there is real substance for it, never a thin copy with the place name changed.
FAQ
SEO FAQ: cost and the monthly report
What does it cost?
Three tiers: $300, $500 and $700 USD monthly, and nothing locks you in beyond the current month. Google Ads management comes with the top tier, Pro, and Google charges you separately for the clicks. A redesign or a speed project gets its own one-off price after we look at the site. Meanwhile, keeping the site patched and running is already part of each monthly fee. We would rather put you on Starter than sell you a plan you will not use.
What exactly goes into the monthly report?
First, it lists calls, form leads and direction requests from your Business Profile and website. Then it shows positions for the search terms we agreed on, the work completed that month and the plan for the next. When a figure moves for a reason we cannot pin down, the report says so instead of guessing. Besides, you can check every number in your own Google accounts, which stay registered to you.
FAQ
Big competitors, other languages and map positions
Can an independent practice compete with Stanford Health Care or the Palo Alto Medical Foundation?
Not on broad terms like “palo alto medical clinic”, and it should not try. Instead, an independent practice wins on its specialty, street and reviews: think of a pediatric dentist on Middlefield or a physical therapist near California Avenue. Those narrower searches also carry clearer intent and far less pressure from the large systems.
Many of our customers speak another language at home. Can you help with that?
We can set up multilingual page structure: a separate page for each language, hreflang tags and a clear language switch, so Google shows each reader the right version. However, we do not translate. Instead, the wording comes from you or a translator you trust, and we put it in place correctly.
Can you put us in the top three of the map results?
No, and any agency that does is overpromising. Map results depend on where the searcher stands, so a phone near the University Avenue Caltrain station sees a different order from one in Barron Park. Instead, we improve what you can influence, namely profile completeness, relevance, genuine reviews and consistent listings, and we report what changes.
FAQ
Where we work and who we are
Do you also cover Menlo Park, Mountain View and Los Altos?
Yes, along with Stanford and Los Altos Hills, once your Palo Alto pages are in good order. Each added city gets its own page built on work you genuinely do there, never a duplicate of the Palo Alto page under a new name.
Is your team based in Palo Alto?
No. SEOGorillas®, a digital marketing team in Canada, runs the brand and serves American clients at a distance over video, phone and email. We also bill in US dollars, and the work does not depend on a desk in town.
Curious how far up Palo Alto searches place you?
We check your rankings from Downtown to Barron Park, name the businesses ahead of you and pick out the fixes that would count most. No charge.
